Melanie trained at RADA where she first developed an interest in lighting and its impact on form & texture. She has worked in diverse areas including the Dutch National Ballet, London's West End, Film & TV.
Melanie is also an experienced Interior Designer with many prestigious projects to her name.
Melanie's extensive background brings a unique insight into our approach to lighting design.
Wayne Mottershead

LBD was founded in 1995 by Wayne following a successful career as Director of Photography & Lighting Designer on TV Commercials, Music Videos & Movies where his lighting gained international acclaim.
Wayne formed Lighting By Design after meeting Melanie on set where they soon created a unique bond.
Wayne's innate design sense & technical knowledge has proven invaluable in the world of interiors.
Our designers are supported by a dedicated team of technicians and assistants.
