Lighting Design in the Online World.

When I founded LBD in 1996 we spent a lot of time travelling to meet clients to discuss updates to the design. Whilst we had email, few people had a good enough broadband to send or receive large files so most drawings were delivered by hand or snail mail. Much has changed since then, not least the way we interact with clients now that so many people work from home, at least for part of the week. Zoom and other means of communication via PC and phone has become commonplace.

With so many aspects of our life conducted online LBD has embraced the fact that most aspects of a lighting design can be conducted off plan, especially with new developments and extensions, and is keeping pace with these changes by offering an affordable online means to access an experienced lighting designer.

Lighting design itself has also moved on so much since then with smart devices and lighting control systems becoming commonplace so clients are now far more tech savvy and comfortable with conducting a design online where an immediate response can save time and money.

Whether you just need a little advice on how to approach the lighting scheme in your new extension or a whole-house lighting design scheme with a complete lighting control system, LBD can provide everything you need online, including programming of the system to your specific requirements.

The service includes direct access via Zoom, email & phone to a designer dedicated to your project so you can get instant answers to questions that may arise on site. Should you decide to take the project in a different direction; this direct access means that changes can be made within 24 hours without holding up the works.

LBD see this as the obvious way forward. Why not give it a try? Prices start at £250 and the initial consultation is free of charge.

Designs will vary depending on your requirements but these illustrations should give you a sense of what a lighting design may involve. This is backed up by a complete schedule of specifications and details of suppliers and manufacturers. Should you or your electrician need a little help on site one of LBD's recommended engineers can visit to expand on the design in person and offer valuable advice.

Online or On Site?

Most lighting schemes can be designed off plan so with many projects this is now the most cost-effective way to proceed but if you require full project co-ordination, with a designer making regular visits to site to ensure smooth running then a full design is the way to go. The choice is yours.
